All citizens should respect the fair and just rules of the land. Every society has laws that govern its citizens. Chaos would prevail if there were no laws. The first five books of the Bible illustrate how important rules were to the ancient world. Laws governed every facet of life, from marriage to food. Laws are essential for the survival of life. There are natural laws that govern the universe, and God-ordained laws govern the lives of men and women. Therefore, every person must have a healthy respect for civil and criminal laws that govern our society. Law enforcement must enforce laws fairly and objectively regardless of race, color, or creed. People of all races, colors, and creeds must obey the laws of the land. Those who serve in law enforcement are our brothers, sisters, friends, and relatives. Law enforcement put their lives on the line every day to protect human life and property. Parents must teach their children to respect authority within the home, the school, and the community; when there is a healthy respect for the law, future problems with law enforcement decrease.
